Book Review: Twisted Games by Ana Huang

Book: Twisted Games

Author: Ana Huang

Series: Twisted #2

Rating: 4.5/5

Spice: 3/5

Tropes: Bodyguard romance, royalty romance, forced proximity, slow burn

Plot: Princess meets bodyguard. Bodyguard is really hot but overprotective. Princess's brother abdicates the throne for love because there's a law stating royalty can't marry commoners. Princess returns to Eldorra to learn how to take over the throne, which she never wanted in the first place. Princess must now navigate politics and the press and...whatever it is that she feels for her bodyguard.

My thoughts: I loved how Bridget suddenly and unexpectedly had to take over the throne, a position she makes clear she never wanted. She is not someone who grew up with the expectations and lessons to be future queen, so the reader is experiencing all of that alongside her. The reader genuinely feels sorry for Bridget, knowing how much Bridget already struggled with the limited freedom she had that would now be further restricted.

I also love the emphasis there was on politics and public appearance in this book, I genuinely feel like that is something that is forgotten in many royalty romances (especially the politics). I also love that she's a princess who isn't afraid to get her hands a little dirty.

Rhys is so perfect and that epilogue was so sweet. I also love that he treats her so sweet and gentlemanly but then it's totally different in bed.
