Book Review: Twisted Love by Ana Huang

Book: Twisted Love

Author: Ana Huang

Rating: 4.5/5

Spice: 3/5

Series: Twisted #1

Tropes: Brother's best friend, grumpy/sunshine, billionaire romance,

Plot: When Ava Chen's overprotective older brother leaves to complete a year of his medical residency overseas, to her dismay he moves his best friend in next door to keep an eye on her. That best friend is none other than Alex Volkov, billionaire genius CFO and, according to Ava, part-time robot.

He may be insanely hot, but he's gangerous, has the emotional range of a refrigerator, and can barely stand anyone, let alone eternal optimist Ava. But as they begin to spend more time together, Ava begins to creep past Alex's defenses and learns more about the man behind the steely exterior and she has to admit...she doesn't mind it at all.

My thoughts: I loved this book. It bordered on the edge of a dark romance without quite crossing the line, which I personally have to be in the mood for. I'm always a sucker for a grumpy sunshine and/or a brother's best friend, and I love the dark twist this one had on that trope.

Alex is such an amazing character and he is our groveling king. I don't think I have ever read a book that had so much groveling and it was glorious, but let's be honest he needed to earn back Ava's trust after what happened.

Alex is the epitome of that morally grey character we all know and love who couldn't care less about anybody until that one person forces their way into their life. Then their entire world changes and that one person must be protected at all costs (and I mean at all costs) and they couldn't imagine living without them.

I also love how Ava had gone through so much in her life but she never let it impact her optimistic outlook and view on the world. She is honestly such a strong character and the way Alex is so obsessed with her is adorable.
